Words of Wellness: Sustainable Personal Care
Words of Wellness is a monthly blog written by Sno-Isle Food Co-op’s Wellness Manager, Taryn.
In honor of Earth Month, I would like to share a few of my favorite sustainable personal care products. Ditch the unnecessary plastic packaging with these eco-forward products. You can find these in person at the Co-op today, and some are available through our curbside pickup service.
Lotion Bars from Willful Little Sprite
Closer to a body butter than a lotion, these water-free lotion bars come in a variety of great scents and have a shea butter base.
Grapefruit Mandarin Deodorant from Island Thyme (find it online here)
Not only does this Washington-made deodorant smell wonderful, it’s also baking soda free and comes in a cardboard tube!
Gingersnap Solid Face Scrub from Ethique
Gentle, yet powerful, this bar uses pumice to scrub away dead skin; the molasses, ginger and cinnamon not only make this bar smell like a cookie, but are also warming and invigorating.
LastRound from LastObject
Wonderful for applying toner or removing makeup, as well as machine washable! The LastRound is made from wood cellulose and cotton waste from the textile industry and becomes soft when it’s wet.
Bamboo Bandages from Patch (find them online here)
Made using sustainable bamboo, these bandages are biodegradable and hypoallergenic. My personal favorites are the ones that have pandas on them!
