We carry a wide array of local and organic produce, but yes-we have sweet treats, too!

For food lovers on the hunt for fresh local produce and sustainable groceries in Snohomish County, the Sno-Isle Food Co-op may be a hidden gem. Why hidden, you ask? Many people, including some co-op shoppers, are not entirely sure how co-ops work—or how to get involved. Luckily, we are here to clear up some common co-op myths and misconceptions. Read on to get the real answers to frequently asked questions about food co-ops. You may be surprised by what you find!

Myth #1
I have to be a member to shop at the food co-op.

Fact
Everyone is welcome to shop at our co-op. All shoppers can take advantage of our weekly produce sales, co+op deals, and flash sales.

Myth #2
The co-op sells only health food.

Fact
We have all sorts of foods, including candies, ice creams, convenience foods, and more. However, we prioritize local companies and vendors who meet our ethical standards.

Myth #3
Being a co-op member means I have to do volunteer work or join the board.

Fact
All you really need to do is enjoy shopping at the co-op! Yes, we would love for you to be involved or run for the board if you like, but your level of participation is always entirely up to you.

Myth #4
I have to pay an annual membership fee to be a member of the co-op.

Fact
To become a member (we refer to that as an “Owner” here at Sno-Isle Food Co-op), you have a one-time equity payment of $100. You may pay this all at once or over time (for $5 a month). Your equity payment makes you a co-owner of the co-op along with the other members. No annual payment or fee is required once that initial $100 is met. If for any reason you decide to leave the co-op, your $100 equity payment is fully refunded.

Myth #5
There’s no reason to become a member if I can shop at the co-op for free.

Fact

While we welcome everyone to shop, there are definite benefits to becoming a Sno-Isle Food Co-op Owner.

  • Elect the leadership of the Co-op by voting for (or running for!) our Board of Trustees.

  • Make your voice heard by voting for Register Roundup Organizations

  • Patronage Dividends eligibility, when the Co-op is profitable, we pass that on to you.

  • Invitation to the Co-op’s Annual Meeting.

  • Wine Weekend, save 10% on all wine the first weekend of every month.

  • Wellness Wednesday, save 10% on wellness items* the second Wednesday of every month. *excludes supplements

  • Bulk Weekend, save 10% on all bulk items the third weekend of every month. (Cannot be combined with any case discount.)

  • Two 10% off your entire shopping trip coupons per year. These coupons will be automatically applied to accounts in March and October and may be used once during that calendar month.

So even if you only shop at the co-op once a month, the benefits are likely to exceed your investment, and you’ll get to play a part in a vibrant community resource. You can join by filling out a simple form with the cashier next time you’re here!
